August 19, 2010 | In: Forerunner 305

Many may already know this, but for those of you who don’t, this is a video, showing you how to hack into the RAM, ROM, and settings, of the Forerunner series of pedometers, by Garmin. This shows how to determine the state of the hard/software, and various tests.

@EnergyFromVacuum
Okay. That makes sense to me now.
Sometimes, companies make bad products.
Sorry to hear about Garmin going wrong for you.

@georgef551 because the garmin that i bought i had it for 4 months then i had to do the recommended firmware update then after the update i noticed the screen would make a loud very high pitch noise. if you dont have something else on like the radio you will end up with a big headache. I called tech support they told me to restart it then resert and all that and it did nothing, i wanted to revert back to old Fireware but that option is not supported.

@FreonRose
It tops out before that (dog whistle) range, however, during a dry run, a dog my neighbor was looking after, did start acting up. Made me wonder if it was to act up again recording this. :)

This doesn’t have maps at all. It does track your position, and you have to input points of interest as you’re there, but it does leave a dotted line as to where you were, so if you get lost, you can follow your footprints. Problem there is, in the woods, if trails are too close together, the error is enough to wind up going the wrong way, but at some point, you’d catch it, and hopefully find the right way.

Very cool…I have a Garmin GPSMap 60cs and never leave home without it, even though the maps are somewhat outdated with all the new crap going in around here. Oh well..LOL
